PCDIAB

Funded by the European Union

PCDIAB is a European research project funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) under grant agreement number 305654. For people with diabetes, maintaining glucose levels in the normal range is essential for preventing diabetes related complications that can lead to for example renal insufficiency, blindness, heart and cerebral infarction, foot ulcer or amputations. The main goal of PCDIAB is to bring a portable bihormonal artificial pancreas to the patients’ home.

This breakthrough in diabetes management includes the automated administration of both insulin and glucagon while the glucose level of the patient is continuously monitored. The portable bihormonal artificial pancreas will improve diabetes treatment and quality of life.
